PRIVACY POLICY

Your videos never leave your computer. Valocut scans, edits and exports entirely on your own machine. There is no upload step, and no Valocut server that receives your footage.
What we do collect is anonymous usage statistics (which buttons get used,
whether scans succeed) and crash reports, so we can find bugs and decide what
to build next. There is no account required to use Valocut, and you can switch the statistics
off in Settings → Share anonymous usage stats at any time.
We never collect your video files, your video filenames, your folder paths, or your project names. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what information Valocut handles — in the desktop app and on this website — why we handle it, who processes it on our behalf, and what control you have over it. If anything here is unclear, email contact@valocut.com and we will explain it properly.
1. WHO WE ARE
Valocut ("Valocut", "we", "us") is an independent software project that makes a desktop application for clipping Valorant highlights. It is operated by Vinayak Sutar, an individual developer based in India. For the purposes of data-protection law, they are the sole data controller for the information described in this policy.

2. THE CORE PRINCIPLE: YOUR FOOTAGE STAYS LOCAL
Valocut is an offline desktop application. The AI that detects your kills runs on your own GPU or CPU. Importing, scanning, editing and exporting all happen on your computer, in a folder you choose.
Concretely, this means we never receive, upload, store or process:
- Your video files, or any frame, thumbnail or audio from them
- The filenames of your videos, or the folders they live in
- Your project names, clip names, markers or timeline edits
- Your exported clips
This is not just a promise in a document — it is enforced in the software. Before anything is
transmitted from the app, every outgoing message is passed through a filter that strips absolute
file paths and media filenames and replaces them with <path> and
<file>. Diagnostic reports also have local variable snapshots removed entirely,
so no video data can be carried out inside an error report.
3. WHAT THE DESKTOP APP COLLECTS
3.1 Anonymous usage statistics (on by default, switchable off)
To understand how Valocut is actually used — and, crucially, where it fails — the app sends anonymous product events to PostHog, hosted in the European Union.
These events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device the first time you open the app. It is not derived from your hardware, your Windows account, your email or anything else about you; it is a random value that lets us tell "one installation used the app twelve times" apart from "twelve installations used it once". It is never linked to your name or email address.

Automatic capture is deliberately turned off: Valocut does not record your clicks, mouse movement, keystrokes, screen contents, or screen recordings ("session replay"). Every event listed above is one we deliberately added and can point to in our source code.
Because these events are delivered over the internet, PostHog also receives your IP address as part of the network request, and may derive an approximate location (typically country level) from it. We do not use IP addresses to identify individuals.
To turn this off: open Settings in the app and set
Share anonymous usage stats to OFF. This takes effect immediately, and
the app remains fully functional with statistics disabled. A notice explaining this is shown the
first time you launch Valocut.
Retention: events are kept by PostHog for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
3.2 Crash and error reports
When something in Valocut throws an error, a diagnostic report is sent to Sentry,
hosted in the European Union, so we can find and fix the bug. A report contains the error type
and message, the version of Valocut, and a stack trace — the chain of our own source
files and line numbers that were running at the moment of failure (for example
backend/processing/scan.py:342).
Before a report is sent: absolute paths are replaced (so your Windows username never appears), any media filename is replaced, and local variable snapshots are dropped. Sentry is configured not to collect personally identifying information, and does not store your IP address. Only a sample of errors is sent, which is enough to spot real problems without excessive reporting.
Retention: reports are kept by Sentry for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
3.3 If you choose to sign in (entirely optional)
Valocut works fully as a guest — there is no account requirement and nothing in the app is locked behind signing in. If you do choose to sign in to join the Pro waitlist, we store, through Supabase, our authentication and database provider:
- Your email address
- A display name (taken from your Google profile's first name, or the part of
your email before the
@) — you can change it at any time - An account identifier and the date you joined the waitlist
If you sign in with Google, Google provides us with your email address and name. We do not request or store your Google password, your contacts, your Drive files, or anything else from your Google account. We do not store a profile picture.
Your email address is not sent to our analytics provider. Signing in only sets a non-identifying "this installation is registered" flag on the anonymous statistics described above.
3.4 If you send us feedback
The in-app feedback button sends a message to our inbox, delivered by Web3Forms. It includes what you typed, your email address if you chose to give one, the anonymous installation identifier, the app version, and your browser-engine user-agent string (which identifies your operating system and app runtime versions). It never includes video content.
This is a message you deliberately chose to send, so it is sent regardless of your usage statistics setting. We use it only to reply to you and to fix what you reported.
4. WHAT THIS WEBSITE COLLECTS
valocut.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. It sets no advertising cookies and runs no cross-site tracking.
- Aggregate visitor analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track individuals across sites. It tells us page views and referrers in aggregate.
- Server logs. As with any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data — including your IP address — to deliver the page and protect against abuse.
- Waitlist form. If you submit your email address to the waitlist, it is delivered to our inbox via Web3Forms and used only to email you about Valocut's launch. A flag is stored in your browser's local storage so the form does not ask you twice.
- Web fonts. The site's fonts are self-hosted on Cloudflare alongside the page — they are not fetched from Google Fonts or any other third-party CDN, so no external provider ever sees your IP address for a font request.
- Demo video. The interactive demo streams a sample video from Cloudflare storage. Nothing about your own footage is involved.
5. WHAT WE NEVER COLLECT
To be unambiguous, Valocut does not collect, transmit or store any of the following, in the app or on this website:
- Your video files, frames, thumbnails or audio
- Video filenames, folder paths, project names or clip names
- Your timeline edits, markers, or the timestamps of your kills
- Screen recordings or session replays
- Keystrokes, mouse movement, or clipboard contents
- Microphone or camera input
- Your Riot Games account, your in-game identity, or anything read from the Valorant client
- Payment or financial information — Valocut is free and takes no payments

7. WHO ELSE PROCESSES YOUR DATA
We keep the number of third parties deliberately small. Each of these acts as a processor on our behalf, under contract, and none of them is permitted to use your data for their own purposes:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioural advertising. We would only disclose data if legally compelled to do so, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
8. WHERE YOUR DATA IS PROCESSED
Our analytics and crash-reporting providers are configured to use their European Union regions. Our other providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside your region, that transfer relies on the appropriate safeguards those providers maintain, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
- Anonymous usage statistics — retained by PostHog for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
- Crash reports — retained by Sentry for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
- Waitlist and account records — kept until you ask us to delete them, or until the waitlist is closed and no longer needed.
- Feedback emails — kept as long as needed to resolve what you reported and to keep a record of product decisions.
- Everything on your own computer — your videos, projects, exports and settings stay on your machine until you delete them. Uninstalling Valocut does not delete your projects or exports.
10. YOUR CHOICES
- Turn off usage statistics —
Settings → Share anonymous usage stats → OFF. Immediate, and the app keeps working normally. - Don't sign in — guest mode is the default and gives you the entire app.
- Sign out — via the user menu in the app; this clears your display name from the app.
- Use it completely offline — Valocut needs no internet connection to import, scan, edit or export. If your machine is offline, nothing is transmitted at all.
- Ask us to delete your data — email contact@valocut.com.
11. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we process it; receive a copy in a portable format; and withdraw consent you previously gave. These rights are given by laws including the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
To exercise any of them, email contact@valocut.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights — every feature of Valocut stays available either way.
One honest limitation: our usage statistics are keyed to a random identifier with no link to your identity, so if you have never signed in or emailed us, we have no way to find "your" rows to export or delete — there is nothing connecting them to you. If you would like the statistics to stop regardless, switching the setting off in the app achieves that immediately.
If you are in the EU or UK and believe we have handled your data improperly, you have the right to complain to your local data-protection supervisory authority.
12. CHILDREN
Valocut is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. SECURITY
All data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to our analytics, error-reporting and database dashboards is restricted and protected by multi-factor authentication. The single most effective security measure, however, is architectural: your footage never leaves your machine, so there is no server of ours that could ever be breached to expose it.
14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. For any change that materially affects your privacy, we will also announce it in the app or on our Discord before it takes effect. Previous versions are available on request.
